Old Oundle Music School
The property which used to be the Old Music School, located on 49 West Street, came on the market unexpectedly just before Christmas. The property consists of a range of traditional stone properties with considerable character. The main property comprises a range of stone and period buildings, but a brick and stone barn now converted into offices is also included. The property is 7,210 Sq Ft, and planning permission was granted for office use in 1995. Detailed planning permission for residential conversion was granted in 2004 which would allow a conversion to 5 houses, each of 850sq ft – 2,900sq ft.
Historically, the buildings included in the sale of the property are thought to have been in agricultural and residential use, but more recently have been the Music School for Oundle School and are currently offices. The site is situated approximately a quarter of a mile west of the centre of the town and within walking distance of all shops and other amenities. Access is from both West Street and Inkerman Way.
It is uncertain as to what the future of the building will be. It is said that Oundle School were interested in buying back the property for school use, certainly the size of building and its location would mean that it could be put to a number of uses, but rumour has it that the property was sold to a private buyer won the sealed bid to purchase the property.
