New Head for Oundle Middle School

by Staff Writer, December 1, 2007

Oundle Middle and Kings Cliffe Schools opened in September with a new Head Teacher, Miss Reseigh. From Surrey originally, Miss Reseigh is new to Oundle. She has previously been Head Teacher of two other primary schools. Also, as a local authority inspector for schools she has visited over a hundred schools. Miss Reseigh had a gap year before starting at Oundle Middle School, when she went to Turkey and France.

She spends half her time at the Middle School at Oundle and the other half at the Middle School at Kings Cliffe, with the two schools merging for sports fixtures. According to Miss Reseigh both of the schools have very high academic standards and good facilities. For instance, the children get to do courses such as cooking, which she feels are very important life skills and important to learn about from a young age.

For the moment, she is not intending to make any changes to the school until she sees what improvements might be necessary. Miss Reseigh is very keen on sport and thinks that it is a vital part of the curriculum, offering the children a much-needed break. On bullying, Miss Reseigh believes that instead of merely shouting, teachers need to get the children to understand their actions and why such behaviour has crossed the line to bullying, itself. She also feels that the victim needs to be helped, instead of being ignored, which is what often happens. For Miss Reseigh, the children are the favourite part of the job and are what keep her going.
