Bus Service Changes for Oundle
The new bus service changes which were implemented on the 2nd of September were good news for both the people and the town of Oundle. In the newly revised timetable, the bus service between Oundle and Peterborough was enhanced to a nearly hourly schedule with four through buses to Thrapston, resulting in three links between Oundle and Peterborough.
Why is this good news? For a start, the revised timetable gives the people of Oundle improved and more flexible shopping journeys to Peterborough. It decreases the waiting time for those who do take the bus at our relatively small bus stop and by doing so avoids congestion in the market place.
The town itself also benefits from the changes in the bus service. With the new changes in place, Oundle is more easily accessible than before as more buses are passing through at any given day than before.
Even so, there are a few disappointments in the changes. The direct services from Oundle to Yarwell and Thrapston have been both withdrawn as well as the service that links Oundle to Lutton. The withdrawal was made due to the decreasing number of passengers on these routes. But for passengers who actually used these routes week in and week out, the withdrawal of the service is a blow none the less. These routes have been replaced by other routes which are less direct and so whilst it is still possible, it will take passengers longer to get to their destination. The biggest letdown would have to be the withdrawal of the service that links Lutton to Oundle. There is no replacement for this route and people who would want to go to Lutton from Oundle will have to change at Queensgate.
